SEND Policy

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Policy (Summary)

At TutorProf, we believe every learner should have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We are committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive environment where children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are supported to thrive.

Our Commitment

  • We treat every student with dignity, respect, and fairness.
  • We make reasonable adjustments so that students with SEND can access our tutoring without disadvantage.
  • We follow UK and Scottish guidance, including the Children and Families Act 2014, the Equality Act 2010, and the Additional Support for Learning (Scotland) Act 2004.

Identifying Needs

  • We talk with parents/carers at the start to understand a student’s strengths and challenges.
  • Where appropriate, we may review school reports, assessments, or professional advice.

How We Support Students

  • Lessons are adapted using a range of approaches (visual, auditory, practical activities).
  • We provide differentiated resources, extra time, and assistive technologies where needed.
  • Progress is reviewed regularly, with feedback shared with parents/carers

Our Tutors

  • All tutors are trained in inclusive practice and safeguarding.
  • We provide ongoing training in recognising and supporting SEND.
  • Tutors are fully background-checked (PVG/DBS)

Working Together

  • We value strong partnerships with families, schools, and (where appropriate) specialist services.
  • Parents/carers are encouraged to share insights and updates so we can tailor support effectively.
  • Students are involved in decisions about their learning in a person-centred way

Safeguarding

  • The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority.
  • Clear safeguarding procedures apply to both online and in-person sessions.

Access to Extra Help
