Safeguarding Policy
Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy Summary
At TutorProf, the safety and wellbeing of children and young people is our highest priority. This summary sets out the key safeguarding principles we follow across all our services, including one-to-one tutoring, small group learning, SEND/SpLD support, alternative provision, and supply teacher support.
Our Commitments
• All tutors hold an Enhanced DBS (England & Wales) or PVG (Scotland), renewed every 3 years.
• Compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE, DfE 2025), the Children Act, and Scottish Child Protection guidance.
• Annual safeguarding training for all staff and tutors.
• Safer recruitment practices, including references, identity, and right-to-work checks.
• Professional boundaries maintained at all times (e.g., no private messaging with pupils).
• Online tutoring delivered safely, with cameras on and parental consent for recordings.
Safeguarding Steps
1. Identify – Stay alert to signs of abuse, neglect, or welfare concerns.
2. Respond – Act immediately, listen carefully, and reassure the child.
3. Record – Write a clear, factual record of what you saw or heard.
4. Report – Share concerns with TutorProf’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
5. Refer – DSL escalates to statutory services (Local Authority, Social Services, or Police).
Creating a Safeguarding Culture
• Parents/guardians are encouraged to be present or within earshot during sessions.
• Open communication with schools, families, and agencies is promoted.
• Tutors receive supervision, training, and ongoing support.
• We encourage everyone to raise concerns without hesitation.
